Underground Rebel Bingo Club Tour

"Well it's basically like a bit of a rave but...with hardcore bingo in it as well."

This is the Underground Rebel Bingo Club - on tour. A den of hedonism sprouting up at random across the country in secret locations to entertain and shock its fans with a completely new kind of night out. "Because the type of bingo we play is quite dangerous it's kinda outlawed so we have to keep it quite secret. Every event has a cover story - like a Health & Safety conference for example - so you get given instructions of where to go the day before and pretend you're concerned about the heath and safety of young people and then once you're in it becomes this den of hedonism and iniquity".

"It's kind of like a massive gameshow, Metallica meets bingo; I'm not sure if it's the kind of bingo Mecca Bingo play because we've never been down there."

It began in a church basement and since then URBC has gone from strength to strength with huge parties at Bristol and Leeds this year, drawing a crowd of over 2,000 at Leeds Festival 2010. Now they are preparing for their first event in the US - Brooklyn, New York on Saturday 9th October - followed by the 'Addicted Tour' which hits Bristol, Brighton, London, Nottingham, Manchester and Leeds in the following two weeks.
"It's going to be loud and aggressive and some people cry and get on stage and we dab off numbers and some people win prizes and some people lose. We used to throw parties in this church hall and when we'd finished we used to hang out in the basement. There was a bingo kit down there and we played with six or seven of us but we didn't really know the rules so we played our own version of it and it started being this late night hang out and other people would join in and we weren't meant to be there so it became this rebel bingo club. People invited other people along and we got invited to go other places and it just got bigger and bigger."

The Manchester date of the tour is set for Wednesday 20th October, with tickets only just still available here. The crowds of the party city are sure to get things going, whilst the Bingo Club organisers themselves see it as an important date."It's exciting for us because it's a new town and we love spreading out and finding new people to join in. We have quite a mixed crowd but they're all quite fun people looking to be a bit silly and who don't take life too seriously. People who are open minded and who want to try something a bit different, and who don't mind being drawn on and drawing on each other."
So, watch out as the Underground Rebel Bingo Club comes to a (secret) location near you. Tickets are still available on the website but be prepared for a step out of reality - probably to something much more fun.
