Fuse Live – Get ready for a ‘bloody good’ night

Event: Fuse Presents x Bloody Good Period: A Strawberry Jam
Date: Thursday 7th Feb
Time: 19:00-03:00
Location: The Bread Shed, Manchester

After a sellout semester of events, Fuse FM – Manchester University’s student radio station – are back with another of our infamous charity club nights. On February 7th we’ll be hosting A Strawberry Jam at The Bread Shed Manchester with an all femme line-up, in support of our friends at Bloody Good Period.

Bloody Good Period is a charitable project that provides period supplies and toiletries to asylum seekers, refugees and those who can’t afford them. Through the generosity of members of the public, they collect donations of sanitary products and supply them to drop-in centres and support services across the UK.

Head of Events Martha Bolton says “A Strawberry Jam is an opportunity to give this generation of Manchester’s female DJs a platform to express their talent.”

“What we’ve found since we began curating the lineup is that there’s an abundance of very technically advanced women who have never played a live set before. There’s obviously a whole range of reasons for this, including under-confidence and in some cases being overlooked in favour of their male peers. One aim of A Strawberry Jam was to create a safe space for these women to gain live experience”.

Entry to the event is free on one condition. Rather than donating money, Fuse FM asks that you bring a donation of one of the following –

  • an unopened pack of sanitary towels/pantyliners
  • an unopened box of tampons
  • an unopened bottle of shampoo, conditioner, showergel or moisturiser
  • unopened toothbrushes and toothpaste (including children’s)

Please note we’re unable to donate any used or opened products for safety reasons. Also, if you prefer to donate money rather than sanitary products, entry is £4 on the door, with all proceeds going to Bloody Good Period.

The night will begin with vocals from local talent before handing the dancefloor over to some of Manchester’s finest up-and-coming female DJs, as they take us on a journey from disco, through techno, and ending a little heavier with liquid DnB.

A Strawberry Jam is the most recent in a diverse line-up of sellout events hosted by Fuse FM in the past few months, which included live gigs, club nights, and a night of comedy and sketches in collaboration with mental health charity C.A.L.M. Although it is a free event, be sure to grab your free ticket from Skiddle to guarantee entry.
