About the show:
A live music-talk show best described through the eclecticism of Ray Charles, whom this show is dedicated to. Expect a blend of 50s R&B with gospel-inspired vocals and plenty of soul, jazz and blues flavoring. Sit back, relax and unwind every Sunday evening with us, as we run through the prolific discography that champed Ray Charles the Genius of the After Hours. Known for his emotional, gospel pleading vocals and classic electric piano line, Charles’s easily identifiable vocals and songs helped define the black pop genre that emerged in the 50s. Inspired by his gospel-filled childhood, country upbringing and early music career, as well as the spirit of rock and roll, Charles polished his style and solidified his crossover hold in the charts.
In the spirit of iconic vocalists, our hour-long trip through rhythm and blues will also feature Neo-soul giants of the likes of Erykah Badu, D’Angelo, Sade, Amy Winehouse. On occasions, we will be joined by guests to share their take on albums, artists, new releases, defining genre and possibly singing live.
